The Christmas Hamper program begins when a parent/guardian submits an application to CFAX Santas Anonymous Society. We contact every applicant to talk about presents for their children, taking two gift requests for each child up to the age of 17 and creating a Santa Bear gift tag for each request.
Armed with our Santa Bear tags, we ask the generous members of the Greater Victoria community to fulfill children’s Christmas wishes by donating new toys, clothing and other items. We also collect monetary donations, which go toward the food portion of the hampers.
All of the donated items flow through “Santa’s Workshop”, where volunteers wrap the gifts, assemble each hamper, and prepare them for pickup or delivery ahead of the holidays. The attention to detail is crucial—volunteers prepare each hamper as if it were intended for members of their family.
Then it’s time to deliver the hampers. Many families will have their hampers brought to their doorsteps by members of our local fire departments. Alternatively, families can choose to collect their hampers in person.
And on December 25, every child wakes up to a Christmas Day with presents, food, and family. Just the way it should be.
