Merry Christmas to our donors, supporters and volunteers!
We are all moved by the spirit of a child and the wonder of the season, and, because of your donations, and gifts of time, CFAX Santas has fulfilled it’s promise to 1,200 families (2,311 children and 2,262 adults). There is gifts for the children under the tree and food for the family in the pantry. Because of your generosity we did more…
Together, we have helped provide gifts to Victoria General Hospital Pediatrics to light up the faces of children this Christmas, local community organizations needing help to meet their promise of Christmas, local not-for-profit daycares and more.
Your gifts create memories like the joy of that one special gift a child dreamed of, the kindness shown by others during tough times, and the enduring hope it inspires.
With your financial gifts, volunteers roll into action. The Christmas Hamper program is as close to a Santa's Workshop as depicted in so many books and movies. Every gift given to a child was lovingly handled by the following volunteer teams:
- Application Processing: processing all applicants and following through from beginning to pick-up and delivery for each and every family.
- Bears: All of the wishes on our iconic brand logo “Bear.”
- Phoners: Speaking to each parent and recording all the details of wishes and more.
- Inventory: Purchasing and stocking shelves for the popular Virtual Tree of Wishes gifts – the gifts parents choose.
- Office/Special Events: Working with community fundraisers and programs like the Virtual Tree to promote gifts needed for the hampers.
- Gift Cards: Importing all gift cards, processing and preparing for hampers
- Receiving: Recording all toys donated by the community, including Tree of Wishes contributions, and separating program toys and community toys
- Gift Processing: Selecting the Main Gift, choosing the second gift based on wishes, and preparing the gift hamper.
- Quality Control: Reviewing the gift hamper and all details before packaging for the warehouse.
- Tree of Wishes: 230 shifts of volunteers who staff our Tree of Wishes as our public-facing ambassadors.
- Warehouse: Receiving and packaging all food hampers (3,600 bags of food), moving gift hampers from Santa's Workshop to the distribution center, and preparing for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Firefighters: 148 local firefighters who sign up to assist with pick-ups and deliveries
- Special events, Toy Mountain, Tree of Wishes and Miracle on Broad – fundraisers throughout the community supporting the food portion,
Forty-seven years ago, Marilyn Cann’s dream of expanding her basement operation, which she called Santas Anonymous, came true when a visit to Mel Cooper transformed it into CFAX Santas Anonymous.
It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes an army to create the special memories we have provided for generations of local children in this community over all these years. We are a Society, and we are proud to represent Christmas in our community.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, our staff, we Thank you for your generosity!
Warmly,
Christine Hewitt-Goodsir
